what’s in a name

April 29, 2013

ali

Names have always interested me. My name Alicia, has spanish roots from my dad Roberto. In spanish the meaning of Alicia is ‘noble humor’ and in american means ‘honest’. I feel in some ways I possess both these traits and carry the name Alicia well. However, I more often go by half my name, ‘Ali’. When I looked up the meaning to this name it holds the meaning of ‘excellent, noble’. Whatever these traits may mean or how they are portrayed by me is debatable. When I was younger, I would dream of changing my name to what I thought at the time better (like Crystal or Barbie, thanks for saving me mom) but nowadays I love my name and embrace it. What does your name mean?
