new years in izmir

January 1, 2013

After a busy weekend, Ellen and I decided to make Monday a relaxing day. We slept in and then made our way to the ansensor, an elevator made solely so citizens of Izmir didn’t have to make the climb up the leveled hill. The too has a magnificent view of Izmir so we grabbed a spot at a cafe for lunch and enjoyed the city below us. After lunch, we headed back to the apartment and went for a run on the water. Finishing up our lazy afternoon, we started getting ready for the evening festivities.

We met up with several of Penny’s coworkers and headed to a local restaurant on the water. After a couple drinks the group headed out near the sea to the welcome surprise of floating wish lanterns. The sight of them was magical and demure, we decided we had to participate. Starting the burn on mine, I began thinking of what I wanted 2013 to bring. Over the past year my life has changed immensely and the years never seem to end as I expected. I have a feeling that this year holds amazing experiences on the horizon.
