After a traditional Turkish breakfast on the water with two of Penny’s coworkers, we finished the drive to a small beach town, Çeşme. Upon arrival, I instantly fell in love. Located right on the Aegean Sea, Çeşme is within a birds eye view of Greece and the perfect vacation spot. After checking out the shops right on the water,we headed into the local castle. This is where one could get a view of the whole town, and my was it beautiful. The castle held much history including that of Catherine the Great. Post castle, we walked around the local farmers market and although similar to one seen in the US, the sounds of a foreign language around you and foods you’ve never seen make it all the more enticing. As the sun began to set, we headed back to the water to have some Manti and hookah while watching the locals play some backgammon. Asked yet again if I was Turkish, I began to realize maybe I was at home.
