Fourth of July

July 10, 2012

After packing up the car with three of my best girlfriends and driving an entertaining fourteen hours from Seattle, we finally arrived to Utah on the third. Quickly embraced by Val’s family, the warmest bunch I’ve ever met, my exhaustion was soon replaced with pure excitement. Val and I had talked about this trip for a couple of months now and I had heard numerous stories about their family vacations to Utah. After some games and chitchat on that first night, we soon hit the sack for the upcoming fourth. We were woken up filled with delight to go on bike ride with the infamous Uncle Ron. After gearing up, we went on a twenty mile bike ride all around Park City. Although we did some riding on the road, my favorite parts were the off-road technical riding on rocks, talk about a thrill!

The house was completely decorated in patriotic colors, even the dogs had on their red, white and blue. Val’s sister and friends had planned out a creative ‘beer olympics’ for the entire family. Grandpa was on my team (team mexico) and oh my did he get into character. I haven’t laughed that hard in quite some time. Following beer olympics, we had a delicious dinner and of course played more games. Even without fireworks, this fourth was one for the books.
